Daarek Orb
From Enlil
An ancient artifact of an indeterminate nature and origin.
[edit] History
The Daarek Orb's origins are shrouded in mystery. The adventurers encountered the Nameless Paladin while stranded on the Shores, and she was able to supply a small amount of history for the object. Ancient even in her time, the Orb apparently has some arcane ties to the functioning of the Shores, but the Nameless Paladin was hazy on the details. Servants of Enroch had in the past expressed interest in possessing the Orb, probably due to both its ties to the Shores and its apparent ability to cause dead bodies in its vicinity to become undead.
The adventurers first encountered evidence of the Daarek Orb's influence when they traveled into the mines at Darklingscourse. They were accosted by several undead creatures, including kobolds and gnolls. According to the Nameless Paladin, Darkling's Course was historically associated with the cult of Enroch, so the fact that the Orb may have been concealed there is not surprising.
Using methods not known at this time to the PCs, the evil Omil found out about the Daarek Orb and set off to find it in Garany. While it is theorized that his main goal was to use its necromancy to strengthen his stranglehold on Syrriam, no one knows for sure.
The Daarek Orb may very well have met its end when Omil and the PCs finally crossed paths. Omil, on the verge of death, screamed, "You'll never have it!" and struck the Orb with some kind of wand, resulting in a large surge of white light that appeared to have literally blasted the PCs off the face of the earth, onto the Shores.
It is unknown if the Orb has survived, although the Nameless Paladin felt that the explosion that happened could easily have been caused by the artifact's destruction.
[edit] What we know about the orb
Dead creatures--perhaps even skeletal creatures--come back as undead when the orb is near them.
Servants of Enroch have in the past coveted the Orb.
It may or may not be destroyed after the adventurers' run-in with Omil.
