[edit] Darklingscourse Mines
Darklingscourse is an old mine in the mountains of (mountain name) near the town of Harlwight.
[edit] History of Darklingscourse
The PCs currently know little of the history of these mines. They apparently go down very far and are part of a network of old mines that honeycomb through the mountains. The mines were in use even in the days of the Nameless Paladin, and were apparently somehow affiliated with the cult of Enroch.
[edit] Present Day
Aaron, Laucian, and Liesl's first foray into Darklingscourse coincided with their first adventure together. Upon entering the mine, they encountered and defeated several kobolds, who attempted and failed to escape through a strange door. Further exploration lead to the discovery of a gnomish village. After convincing the gnomes that they were there only to discover the source of the befouled water, they were joined by the gnomish mage Fonkin. His assistance proved invaluable later on in the mine, due to his arcane skills and knowledge of mining equipment.
It appeared that kobolds had been performing mining in Darklingscourse, but their efforts had been recently abandoned. They left behind a large amount of their waste, which was overflowing into the water supply and making the local water unpotable. The adventurers were able to flush out this area at the source of pollution and solve the water problem.
There were kobolds and gnolls in the mine, in both dead and undead forms, as well as the Headless Lizard guy, who was discovered in what appeared to be a reasonably luxurious residence within the mine. The adventurers were able to recover several interesting books and a variety of spices which Aaron uses to make their meals more palatable.
A portion of the mine appeared to have been blocked off, and the adventurers were unable to explore further, because of the presence of at least a dozen unknown monsters beyond the collapsed hallway.
