Harlwight

From Enlil

Harlwight is a very small town near the defunct Darklingscourse mines. Aaron, Laucian, and Liesl first met here when they were all sent to investigate a mysterious befouling of the local water. While Laucian and Liesl were sent by the Church of Enlil to attempt to help the town, Aaron was sent by his employer at the time, the Monsanto Mining Corporation, who were publicly interested in helping the town with a water problem that could have stemmed from the closed mines, but were also secretly interested in finding out if the shuttered mines could become viable again with more modern equipment and techniques.

The town itself is very small, now, though it was once much larger when the mines were open and in operation. The residents are mostly made up of older citizens whose parents and grandparents had once worked in the mines. A few very old citizens actually had some dealings in the mines during the last days they were still in use. Many of the citizens of the town were afflicted with a fairly serious illness because of the polluted water, a situation the party did their best to help by purifying water and working on tending to the sickest before heading into the mines to try to fix the problem at the source.

In addition to the befouled water the town also had to contend with what the citizens called outlaws operating out of the large abandoned section of the city, and a growing number of encounters with monsters in the wilderness. However, despite how the townsfolk felt about the "outlaws," when push came to shove, these "outlaws" rallied with the rest of the town to attempt a defense when a rather large group of monsters from the wilderness attacked the city and captured a number of children.
