Laneet
From Enlil
Laneet is a trading post, in the badlands between Morche and Serriyam, on North coast of Kadaras. Politically, it is part of the Morche region, and is currently governed by Janus Ungerholt.
The town is composed of a few perminant stone buildings and huts, including an inn and some shops used in the production and repair of wagons and other caravan goods. There is also a semi-permanent marketplace, for more general needs. Notable among structures in the trading post is the mayor's manor, where Janus Ungerholt lives. It also serves as the seat of government in the region.
Under Ungerholt control, Laneet is the center of a protection racket. The local government pays off the local orcs to not attack caravans under official guard. Official guard can be bought for a price, but many cannot afford the service, halting much trade in the region. Jacob Applebottom informed the party that the mayor sends out a caravan to pay the orcs roughly every two weeks. The caravan is well guarded, and leaves directly from the manor.
[edit] Mayor's Manor
The mayor's manor is to the South-East of town, and is surrounded by a tall wooden fence, made up of logs about six inches thick, carved to a point at the top. The fence stands about 18 feet tall. It is unclear how far below the earth it goes. The party was able to find a small rotten area near the garden that allowed them to enter the garden.
[edit] The Break-in
Aaron Monsanto was able to obtain a map of the manor from a guard named Sonya. Sonya told the party that the manor held 30-40 guards in the barracks and on duty. Furthermore, Jacob Applebottom believed that his friend, Yarin Thornwood, another Serryic Knight, was locked up there.
After entering, the party proceeded to enter through the parlor, and head downstairs, where they were able to rescue Yarin. With his help, they locked all the guards in their barracks long enough for Yarin and Aaron to break into the secret vault without setting off the alarm. Although they saw tens of thousands of gold in riches, they only took what they could easilly carry, and slipped some weights into one of the chests of gold. However, while they skillfully disabled the alarm trap on the door, they fell pray to another line of defence by disturbing a Stone of Alarm, which could be heard throughout the mannor.
Meanwhile, the rest of the party slaughtered the Laneet guards as they broke out of their barracks. While no one was quite sure of the final body count, the group agrees it was upwards of thirty men killed or subdued. With the alarm sounded, the party was quick to take horses and feed, and head out of the mannor, leaving the treasury breached and a small fraction of the guard standing.
