Travel to Oaerda

The following day we set off from Asterith's tower. We delayed briefly in search of some magical weapons, and though I was sorely tempted by a rapier that could burst into flames on command (think of the dramatic entrances you could make with something like that!) I chose instead to save my money until we got to the port town where I'd be more likely to be able to find a traditional enchanted rapier.
We were escorted from Asterith's tower and had no trouble from the Ogres or any other denizens of the area. In town I was able to find an enchanted rapier, which I had to go into debt to my friends to purchase (not something I relished), but in the long run it should help my to survive and to fight against several foes which my previous rapier, while an excellent piece of work, just couldn't seem to have much effect upon. And as much as I like not being in debt, I like being alive even more (it's certainly more conducive to exploration, and profit!).
We boarded our ship, and had a remarkably uneventful trip across the sea. I spent some time practicing with my abilities, and helping out the ships cook, as well as practicing the mediation and focusing skills that Mr. Poe taught me. The others seemed to occupy themselves well enough, but it was a rather boring several weeks.
When we approached the island of Chessick we followed Asterith's rough map as best we could and made some guesses until we found our way to the port city of Chessick he spoke about. When we landed there was some interest in this group of strange visitors, but nothing seemed too out of the ordinary. We were bet by the town's constabulary who didn't ask too many questions about where we were from, but was very concerned with public order. He told us we had a day to register with the Hunters Guild (which was good as that was our plan for cover anyway), or he'd take our weapons. (Which he did tie to our persons until we were registered). He also confiscated my sap, which I foolishly did not hide well enough, and gave me a bit of a looking over upon discovering it. However in general he seemed to be ok with us, and I think just wanted to put up a tough front to scare us a bit and keep order in his town.
We learned a bit about the town, which is a walled city. It's not huge but it's not a tiny place either. The area around the city is somewhat safe, but the further you get from the walls the more dangerous the place becomes. We made our way to the Hunters guild and registered there fairly easily enough. We then found some local food (it was quite hearty but quite interesting, I shall have to remember to go spice shopping!) and decided to take a rest for the evening before searching out someone to take us to the Oaerdand Island.
